Welcome to The WPSA Caucus for Women and Gender Justice (previously the WPSA Women's Caucus - West)

The Women’s Caucus for Political Science (WCPS) was formed in 1969 during the Annual Meeting of the APSA in New York.  The founding members were Carol Barner-Barry, Berenice Carroll, Kay Klotzburger, Judith Stiehm, and Audrey Wells.  During its first year, the founders proclaimed to be “a broad coalition within the political science profession that seeks (1) to advance the professional status of women political scientists wherever they may work; and (2) to encourage scholarly research on women.”

The Women's Caucus for Political Science-West was founded at the annual meeting of the Western Political Science Association in Sacramento in 1970. Among the founders were Judith Stiehm, Betty Nesvold, Joyce Mitchell, Mary Lepper, and Ruth Ross. In 2009 the Caucus formally changed its name to the WPSA Caucus for Women and Gender Justice.
